One of our caregiver interns, who was undergoing on-the-job training, approached us regarding his neighbor, Mr. Delfin Engracial, a former Customs employee residing in Poblacion, Basak Pardo. Mr. Engracial had been living with the effects of a stroke for more than a year and was in need of home-based care and physical therapy services. Due to financial limitations and transportation challenges, we advised our intern to assist Mr. Engracial’s family in completing and submitting the necessary registration requirements so that we could provide support. During our initial home visit, we conducted a comprehensive assessment of Mr. Engracial’s condition, educated his family on proper caregiving techniques, and provided guidance on improving his daily care. We also shared practical strategies to help him gradually overcome his dependence on adult diapers. Mr. Engracial’s rehabilitation program was handled by Ms. Bas, one of our licensed physical therapists. Despite the physical limitations resulting from his stroke, she diligently worked with him to improve his strength, mobility, and overall functionality. Through regular home visits, consistent therapy sessions, and the support of his family, Mr. Engracial demonstrated steady progress in his balance, strength, and independence.

Today, he is doing much better and continues to enjoy an improved quality of life. Mr. Engracial expressed his sincere gratitude for the care and assistance he received, especially to his neighbor, whose recommendation connected him with the services that helped him on his journey to recovery.
