Here is another touching story from one of our learners whose name is Earl Veloso Mendiola. His story is full of hope perseverance and victory despite of adversities. Earl was born with autism with late developmental disabilities. People doubted him because of his disabilities, but Earl is determined to prove that the premature judgement made by people around him are wrong.
Earl believes that through determination, encouragement and good direction, he will be able to demonstrate that anyone who manifests hard work and dedication can achieve success.
Earl was once a special education (SPED) learner at the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SSHJM). During his time, he received not only academic support but also holistic formation that nurtured his confidence, social skills, and independence. He rendered his internship at Robinsons Summit Hotel, Cebu City, Philippines. During his internship period, he demonstrated exemplary performance and through his dedication and perseverance, he was able to complete the term, making his internship successful.
With the strong support of Misean Cara through the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus, Earl Glenn gained his independence and developed his personality. Furthermore, his mentors and teachers saw his potential and worked with him slowly, helping to focus on his strong points and inspiring him to celebrate even the slightest accomplishments.
The aim of the SSHJM is to empower him, thus, he engaged in different activities that the teachers prepared. By constant encouragement, Earl gradually shone and blossomed. The supportive atmosphere of SSHJM was his source of development and it inculcated in him the ethical values of being strong, disciplined and faithful.
Because of his perseverance, Earl is now a productive and proud workforce member. He is currently connected at TREVINE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, and he still motivates others through his determination and hard work. His success is not measured upon his employment, but by the courage he has demonstrated in overcoming challenges.
The story of Earl Glenn Veloso Mendiola is a living testament to the fact that dreams are possible as long as there is love, patience and support. He is a role model not only to his fellow learners with special needs but also families and significant others. There is indeed a rainbow after the rain. Despite of the obstacles that Earl has faced, he managed to overcome and walk through the path towards success.
Bigger opportunity comes after struggles and pain, like a rainbow appeared after the rain.
